Comments on Pedigree
Dutch Bred Performance Pony Stallion graded with NWPCS and SPSS. He is very quick to learn, his conformation and movement are very correct.
At home, Metyo is able to live as normal on the main yard, never showing aggression towards other horses. He hacks out with other horses, travels with them on the lorry and warms up at competitions with everyone else. His main love is hunting and his bloodlines support his undeniable stamina. He is 53% Welsh and 47% Arab/TB.
Metyo is suitable for all types of mares and has youngstock from many different broodmares at stud. Without exception his foals all move beautifully and have great personalities.
Eventing, good all – round sire of sports ponies and small competition horses.
Performance & Results
This delightful pony has steadily gained popularity since he first stood at stud in the UK in 2006. Metyo was bred in Holland and went through the rigorous Dutch grading system which stallions must pass if they are to be kept entire and licensed for breeding. He was brought to the UK in 2004 and was a successful competition pony with Alex Hardwick from Hallingbury Hall Equestrian Centre, until 2006 when he moved to Fairlight Stud. He is currently 10th in the BEF Futurity All Time Sire Rankings (eventing) and as such is the highest Sports Pony Stallion in the eventing section.
Metyo is a versatile stallion as he not only moves well, he also jumps and has hunted in West Somerset, happily keeping up with the field all day. He is equally popular with owners of both horse and pony mares and consistently produces high quality youngstock with bright, trainable minds.
With his junior riders he has competed both locally and nationally. With his first junior jockey, Alex Hardwick, he qualified for the finals of the Snuggy Hoods National Dressage Pony Championships and was 3rd with 70% in the 5 year old class. Alex has subsequently gone onto compete for Great Britain in dressage as a young rider. After coming to Fairlight Stud, Metyo continued to compete with local teenager, Emily Harding and they qualified for the Pony Club Championships at Draycott House in 2010. He was also 3rd in the music finals there. Their partnership ended when Emily was out of juniors and he hasn’t had a junior rider since then.
He has impeccable manners and was a regular at pony club rallies and local competitions whilst being ridden by Emily.
Metyo’s offspring have also done well in competitions. Fairlight Mickey Finn, was awarded a higher first premium at the BEF Futurity Evaluations in 2010 at just 5 weeks of age. He was noted to be athletic and confident with excellent conformation and temperament for the discipline of eventing. Fairlight Mondavi qualified for the Eventing Finals at Osberton in 2011 and was the only Sports Pony in the 3 year old section. Fairlight Moondance, also won the foal class at the Sports Pony Studbook Society Youngstock Show in 2011, was Pony Champion and Reserve Overall Champion behind Woodlander Wales, a colt bred by Lynn Crowden.
At his grading in Holland he scored very highly for both performance and temperament achieving 9 for behaviour and being described as “gifted” for his ability as a sports pony. His light, uphill paces seem to pass through to his offspring, as does his kind manner.
A great combination for producing smaller competition horses from big mares… speak to Jo for more advice.
