Libra K’s great exterior and jumping talents are profoundly rooted in his pedigree. His sire the Holsteiner stallion Libero H (Landgraf I) is one of the most influential stallions of the last decade both in sport and in breeding. With Jos Lansink this son of Landgraf I won a respectable series of World Cup competitions and Grand Prix, the highlight being his fantastic victory of the ’s-Hertogenbosch World Cup finals in 1994. In total Libero H has less than 600 registered offspring and yet the number of international showjumping horses by him is truly remarkable.
Libra K in his own right has already proven himself in sport and breeding. In 2000 he was the only horse to finish in the top 5 in all major age group classes, Inc. Foxhunter Final at HOYS. He won internationally at CSI Reims, placed 2nd in the Grand Prix at Le Mans & won the Middlesex Grand Prix beating the top 30 horses and riders in the UK.
His progeny are proving to be of exceptional quality and excelling in both showjumping and eventing. In 2011 Latino K by Libra K ridden by Zoe Brenan claimed both individual and team gold at the FEI European Junior Eventing Championships in Portugal. Zoe Brenan, “Libra K has obviously passed on his sporting ability and brain for all 3 disciplines in Eventing as well as his perfect temperament. His progeny are willing to learn, stay calm under pressure and are superb to handle.”
Britain’s hidden gem!
Henk Minderman (Anglo European Studbook), “ Libra K is a ‘somewhat forgotten horse’ who needs to be brought back to the attention of all serious sport horse breeders as he has all the aspects of becoming a top Sire! His own performance at top level is supported by his superb pedigree. In my opinion he is better bred and he competed at much higher level than his famous half-brother Numero Uno and we would be very foolish not to use him extensively in the UK. I for one will!”
