Biography

Number 31 in France's most used Stallions in 2023 Through his grandsires, Balou Star represents a line breed on both supersire Galoubet A and Alme Z. And through Quick Star’s dam Stella, Balou Star also represents legendary Arab stallion and high performance sire Denouste, famously known for his strong hints, and passing them on to his progeny. At his licensing, Balou Star was twice scored a 10 for his perfect technique and his outstanding jumping. Under top British rider Millie Allen, the pair won team gold at the FEI European Young Rider Championships 2017 as well as many prestigious competitions such as, the Royal Highland International Stairways, the U25 Grand Prix at the CSI4* Liverpool as well as the U25 Grand Prix Les Talents Saut Hermes, CSI5* Paris. The pair also succeeded at the CSIO3* Roeser and at several CSI2* Global Championship events. Grandsire Baloubet du Rouet was individual gold medalist at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, and won the World Cup Final three times in succession. Dam sire Quick Star, sire of 2016 Olympic gold medalist Big Star, won numerous Grand Prixs including Aachen. Balou Star has a large and growing number of licenced sons as well as elite offspring throughout Europe that successfully entered the Int show jumping circuit. No less than 5 sons were licenced for SF & OS in 2021 alone. The British youngster, Kingston Star, former BEF Futurirty Champion, develops well under British team rider Holly Smith.

Notable Progeny

Balou Star refines, and he passes on his beautiful type, blood, movement, scope and rideability. He already produced numerous premium foals and several approved and premium graded / Champion stallions. His offspring present themselves active and leggy with lots of elegance combined with great movement, a solid back and a long, well-muscled performance croup and excellent jumping technique. His offspring literally "look for" the fence. Balou Star often services for the refinement of larger, muscular type mares with lots of substance and scope as well as a height from 1.65m. Balou Star is worldwide accepted for breeding, and he is in great demand throughout Europe.
