Biography

Blue Hors Baron is a highly influential modern dressage stallion known for his exceptional rideability, powerful movement and strong performance pedigree. Born in 2013, the chestnut Hanoverian stallion began his career in Denmark in 2016 when he obtained approval with the Danish Warmblood at the Herning stallion selection. Following his licensing, Baron successfully completed both his 10-day test and 35-day performance test in 2016, before earning his final breeding approval in Herning in 2017—one of only four four-year-old stallions to achieve this distinction that year. From the beginning, Baron impressed judges and spectators alike with his extraordinary elasticity, outstanding rideability and three exceptional basic gaits, displaying unlimited movement potential with remarkable shoulder freedom and powerful hind-leg activity. Baron is by Benicio, one of the most successful sons of Belissimo M. Benicio won the Bundeschampionat for six-year-old dressage horses and achieved the exceptional overall score of 9.88 at his performance test in Schliekau, including perfect 10s for walk, trot and canter. Belissimo M himself is the sire of numerous Grand Prix horses, including Bella Rose ridden by Isabell Werth, as well as approved stallions such as Biedermeier, Bestseller Royale and Barclay 20. Baron’s dam, Snoopje, has also produced successful offspring including Die Baroness and the licensed stallion Best Dancer, a bronze medallist at the Hanoverian four-year-old championships in 2021. Baron’s damline is equally distinguished, producing elite sport and breeding horses including the approved Grand Prix stallion Golden Sky and the Grand Prix mare Heidi Im Glück by Blue Hors Hotline. This family also includes several approved stallions and successful S-level horses such as Athletic Dreamboy, Aspe and Lustig. His pedigree is further strengthened by the influence of the renowned stallion Sir Donnerhall I, one of the most successful sires and damsires in modern dressage breeding, responsible for numerous premium stallions, world champions for young dressage horses and elite sport horses including the double World Champion Sa Coeur. Additional valuable bloodlines appear through the Trakehner elite stallion Friedensfürst, an international Grand Prix competitor, as well as Grundstein I and the influential Thoroughbred line of Black Sky XX, known through the famous sire Bolero. In both sport and breeding Baron has proven his outstanding quality. He has competed successfully at Small Tour level while establishing himself as a highly influential sire, producing eight licensed stallions and several awarded mares by the age of nine. His offspring are admired for their rideability, elasticity and modern dressage type. In 2022 he became the most used stallion in Denmark, covering more mares than any other stallion in the country—further confirming his reputation as one of the leading dressage sires of his generation.
