Biography
Comrado descends from the renowned Holsteiner dam line 18a2, one of the most performance-proven families in modern show jumping breeding. His dam line alone has produced four sport horses, underlining the genetic reliability of this influential Holsteiner lineage. As a son of Comme il faut, Comrado combines scope, athleticism, ambition, and remarkable rideability. He stands out for his powerful frame and his ability to convert energy into highly efficient jumping technique, supported by exceptional natural balance. During his 50-day performance test in Adelheidsdorf in 2025, judges emphasized his reliability and precision, noting that he “never appears in danger of making a mistake.” He completed the test with consistently strong scores and achieved a weighted jumping index above 8.0. His sire, Comme il faut, is the result of the legendary pairing of Cornet Obolensky and the Olympic, World, and European Champion mare Ratina Z. Licensed in Münster-Handorf in 2007, Comme il faut won his stallion performance test the following year. Under Franz-Josef Dahlmann, he earned silver at the 2010 World Championships for Young Jumping Horses in Lanaken and silver at the 2011 German Bundeschampionat (6-year-olds). From 2013 onward, he competed internationally with Marcus Ehning, collecting major victories and podium finishes, including team silver at the 2019 European Championships in Rotterdam and Grand Prix wins in Madrid, Vienna, Brussels, and Paderborn. He was ceremonially retired during the 2021 European Championships in Riesenbeck. Comme il faut has produced more than 140 licensed sons worldwide and consistently ranks among the top show jumping sires in the WBFSH standings. His most prominent offspring include the 2024 Olympic Champion Checker with Christian Kukuk and the European Championship team bronze medalist Cuma with Katharina Rhomberg. Comrado’s dam Alma has already produced multiple successful show jumpers, including Daaje (1.40 m), Cronus (1.35 m), Jasmin (1.35 m), and Londonderry (1.40 m). The damsire is Corrado I, a direct son of Cor de la Bryère and one of the most influential Holsteiner sires. Corrado I was among the first elite breeding stallions to prove his class at the highest sport level, winning World Cup qualifiers in Dortmund and Aarhus, the NRW Prize in Aachen, and multiple Grand Prix titles. His offspring include Olympic and championship-level performers, notably Clinton (4th at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens) and the team World and European Champion Corradina. Further generations reinforce the strength of this pedigree. The granddam Zarina VII produced the licensed stallion Clinton Jmen and several successful broodmares whose descendants compete up to 1.55 m level. The third dam Swatowo produced the licensed stallion Alant and is a full sister to the licensed stallions Leonardo I and II. The Holsteiner line 18a2 has also produced numerous international show jumpers, including Catwalk (1.65 m), Loveless (1.55 m), and Canoso (1.45 m), among many others.
