Biography

As a model athlete with a strong type, Conthargos Gold attracted the attention of the experts at the licensing in Münster/Handorf in 2023. In free jumping, he always showed great balance, caution and scope with good technique. In movement, he impressed with his powerful yet supple movement. His sire Conthargos, who died unexpectedly in January 2023 and is the progenitor of his unforgotten grandfather Contender, is one of the most sought-after sires in international show jumper breeding. Even though he had to end his sporting career early due to injury, Conthargos is a household name in international show jumper breeding. His offspring are often characterized in particular by the combination of excellent jumping qualities with highly modern type and movement values. Many have already made the leap into the 1.60 class, such as Pia Contra (Niclas Pizarro), Cocolina (Natalie Dean) and Easy Girl (Kent Farrington). Conthargo's German sire statistics show 28 licensed stallion sons and 80 sport offspring placed in the advanced class. Conthargo's Gold line can be described as outstanding from a sporting perspective without any form of exaggeration. His dam Calina has the formative Holstein sires Calido I and Contendro I in her pedigree. She is a half-sister to the 1.60 m show jumper Karamell M&M (Takashi Haase Shibayama) and the 1.50 m mare Diraba (Franceso Turturiello), who in turn is the dam of the 1.45 m successful Kannandro HB. Hanoverian breeding heroes of days gone by also follow in the subsequent generations with the hereditary genius Grannus and the rideability and performance guarantors Akzent II and Goldstern. The third dam, the Grannus daughter Galena, is at the basis of almost uncountable international show jumping cracks, for example she is the granddam of the top mare Acorte, who Rolf Moormann promoted to the top of world show jumping. The pair won the bronze medal at the German Championships and won the Nations Cups in Falsterbo and Copenhagen. The internationally successful licensed stallions Ziroccocorte OLD, Lamaze TN, Diathago, Pilothago, Maximo del Castegno and Salvatore are also grandchildren or great-grandchildren of Galena.
