Biography

Desperado (born 2008), a powerful black Dutch Warmblood stallion by Vivaldi out of Sarita (by Havidoff x Ferro), was bred by the Andeweg family in The Netherlands and is approved by major European studbooks including KWPN, Hannoverian, Oldenburg and Westfalian. He first made his mark by scoring 89.5 points in the 2011 KWPN Autumn Performance Test, demonstrating expressive gaits, impressive rideability and exceptional potential as both a sport horse and a breeding sire.([turn0search7][turn1view1]) Under rider Emmelie Scholtens, Desperado progressed from young horse success — including a PAVO Cup win and World Young Horse Championships finals — to a distinguished international Grand Prix career, with highlights such as team silver at the 2019 European Championships, a World Cup qualifier victory, and continued top-level results before being retired and sold to Hengstenhouderij Brouwers for breeding duties. He was honoured with the KWPN Keur predicate in 2024 for his exceptional combined sport and sire record.([turn0search1][turn1view1])
