Biography

Franklyn Sugar (Furst Heinrich x Accord) is a modern, elegant and versatile stallion, with all the attributes needed in the competitive sport horse world. With exceptional conformation, superb front and beautiful head; not to mention his lovely black colour, he turns heads wherever he goes. He is graded BWBS and received a first premium BEF plus the highest dressage score! “Franklyn Sugar”, by the World Champion Young Dressage Horse,”Furst Heinrich”; who, although sadly now deceased, is a prolific sire of sports horses in all disciplines worldwide. Awarded a Premium Stallion at his licensing, he then went on to become Champion of his performance test in Münster-Handorf. As a five-year-old in 2003, he was crowned World Dressage Champion. In his short breeding career, he has produced well over 40 licensed stallions, including many Premium Stallions, Champions and Reserve Champions. The impressive list of State Premium Mares sired by Fürst Heinrich is further evidence of the quality being produced, most notable of 2011 was that of the fabulous 5yr old world dressage champion Woodlander Farouche. On the motherline, his dam St PR mare Aileen by Accord II has injected superb jumping blood into Franklyn Sugar’s breeding (she is a prolific producer of successful sports horses, e.g. BD champion broodmare and champion warmblood at royal show plus many many more). Franklyn Sugar was licensed in October 2010. The German panel of judges at the BWBS grading were particularly impressed with his loose, elastic movement, and his scopey jump; this combined with a superbly mature temperament make him a very desirable sire. He was also awarded Approved status in 2016 by the German panel of judges from the AES, the highest accolade they can award until his young stock are competing internationally. He has that rare mixture of presence and performance and looks to be an exciting sire for the future with all the physical, mental, hereditary and genetic attributes required to ensure a successful career as a sire and serious competitor. He is looking forward to combining a busy competition season with his stud duties; as his temperament to combine both is second to none. This is a really special stallion with consistent wins at every level he progresses to. Franklyn is a true modern sports horse stallion with the star appeal teamed with the all-important trainability factor.

Notable Progeny

His very first foal was a filly out of a Lux Z mare who was awarded a high First Premium at the BEF Futurity in July 2012 and was highly commended by the judges at her dam’s mare grading.
