Biography

Fürst Wilhelm has developed from an insider tip into an influential dressage sire in recent years. In 2014, his impact became clear when two of his sons were licensed in Redefin, including the reserve winner Fürst William HC, who later achieved multiple championships and competed successfully at Intermédiaire I level in 2020. Another son, Furtwängler, was the top price at the 83rd Vechta Autumn Elite Auction, selling for €135,000, and now competes at advanced level in Spain. To date, Fürst Wilhelm has produced 16 licensed sons. One of the most notable is Fair Game, a former €100,000 foal price leader and stallion performance test winner who later sired the 2020 Westphalian Champion Stallion, sold for €800,000. His offspring are known for their elegant type, expressive movement and excellent rideability, and many are now successfully competing at advanced dressage level. In recognition of his success in breeding and sport, Fürst Wilhelm was named VTV Dressage Stallion of the Year by the Oldenburg Verband in 2017. He himself qualified for the Bundeschampionat for German dressage horses and competed successfully up to Intermédiaire I level under Kristin Biermann. Fürst Wilhelm is by the World Champion dressage stallion Fürst Heinrich, who produced numerous licensed sons and successful advanced-level dressage horses. His pedigree also includes influential sires such as Sandro Hit, De Niro and Rubinstein I. He descends from the renowned Hanoverian mare family 35/Schonkleid, which has produced many licensed stallions and successful sport horses, as well as the Oldenburg champion mare Love Story, who founded an important dressage breeding dynasty.
