Biography
Hamilton AS is a modern, large-framed show jumping stallion with clear performance potential. Now four years old, he demonstrates outstanding scope over fences combined with carefulness and excellent technique. Like his maternal half-brother Lyjanero, the former Benstrup stallion, Hamilton AS impresses with a powerful, uphill canter and a reliable temperament. The unique combination of Olympic champion Hickstead with the renowned Holsteiner performance family 18a1 gives this young stallion exceptional genetic potential for the future. His sire Hickstead, ridden by Eric Lamaze, won individual gold at the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong and claimed major Grand Prix victories in Aachen, Spruce Meadows, La Baule and Rome. Despite limited breeding use, he produced top international show jumpers including Cayman Jolly Jumper (Simon Delestre), Flower Girl (Marcus Ehning) and Hickstead White (Jörne Sprehe), all successful at the highest level. All three sons of Hickstead licensed in Germany – Hickstead White, High Class and Hamilton AS – were bred and raised at the Sprehe stud. Hamilton AS’s dam Urzona combines two outstanding Holsteiner stallions in her pedigree: Casall and Carthago. Casall competed at the highest international level for nearly a decade with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, while Carthago, a two-time Olympic stallion with Jos Lansink, became famous for passing on exceptional scope and attitude in the show jumping arena. Urzona is also the dam of the Holsteiner reserve champion Lyjanero (by Landos), who sired several 1.60 m horses including Lynwood with Tanja Sprehe-Brockhage, DSP Lyjin P (S. Böhe) and Lyjanair (Richie Spooner). Another son, Campitelli (by Canoso), competed successfully up to international 1.50 m level, while her daughter Casarella achieved results in international 1.40 m classes. Urzona’s half-sister Caythaga was also successful at 1.40 m level. Hamilton AS descends from the renowned Holsteiner mare family 18a1, which has produced numerous top sport horses including the 1.60 m jumpers Kino (Karen Polle), Glamour Girl (Henrik von Eckermann) and Cielito Lindo (Max Kühner). This proven bloodline further strengthens Hamilton AS as a promising young stallion for modern show jumping breeding.
