Biography

Headleys Deluxe is a proven, international CCI-L 4* eventing stallion, who has competed at every young horse championship, including BYEH 4 Year Old Finals and Le Lion D’Angers 6 and 7 Year Old Young Horse Eventing World Championship. Headleys Deluxe has been an incredibly consistent stallion on the British Eventing and International FEI circuit throughout his career. He is now being aimed at Championships representing Italy with his longstanding rider Giovanni Ugolotti. Headleys Deluxe has won at Novice and Intermediate level BE, and achieved 3rd place double clear finish on his dressage score on his first run at CCI-S 3* level at Wellington. He finished his 2022 season by completing Le Lion 7 year old CCI-L 3* Young Horse Eventing World Championships with a double clear finish on his dressage score. In 2025, Ralph stepped up to CCI-S 4* level confidently and is now looking to establish himself at the top levels of the sport. By German Thoroughbred, Duke of Hearts, ranked 17th in the WBFSH rankings 2022. Duke of Hearts has progeny successfully competing at all levels of the sport, from grassroots to CCI-L 5*, European Championships and World Championships. In 2022, notable progeny, Daytona Beach, completed Burghley CCI-L 5* for 10th place double clear on their 5* debut, They have since completed Kentucky and Maryland CCI-L 5* multiple times. Giovanni Ugolotti and Duke of Champions represented Italy at Pratoni Eventing World Championships 2022 and at Blenheim Palace European Championships 2025. Laura Collett's Outback II was 2021 Le Lion 7 Year Old Silver Medallist and Millstreet CCI-L 3* winner 2022; and Nicola Wilson's Jack of Clubs, out of CCI-L 5* mare Annie Clover, won the BYEH 5 Year Old final and currently competing at CCI-S 3* level. Headleys Deluxe's dam, Colourful Lady, is sired by multiple Grand Prix winner, Olympic, European and WEG medallist alongside LGCT Champion 2016, Casall. Casall competed for 13 seasons injury free, clocking up 27 Grand Prix wins. As a sire he has proven equally as impressive, siring 247 licensed sons and 7 Elite and 90 State Premium mares, and 102 offspring posting results at 1.60m showjumping. Casall comes from the Stamm 890 damline, one of Holstein’s most successful performance mare families. Headleys deluxe's dam, Colourful Lady, competed successfully at CSI5*1.50m herself in the USA, under Ireland's Captain Brian Cournane. Colourful Lady's damline has produced many international jumpers, state premium mares and stallions, including Elite Holstein stallion, Castro. Headleys Deluxe has it all with a kind and easy temperament, bravery, charisma, striking good looks, strong conformation, movement and jump. Carrying over 70% Thoroughbred blood, he is bred for the top level of the sport, and is suitable for a variety of mares.
