Biography
Spotilas is a premium-approved dressage stallion, awarded as a 4-year-old with 9 in overall impression and outstanding performance test results of 861 points. He scored 9 in walk, 9 in canter, and a perfect 10 in vet check, alongside the highest free-jumping scores at his breeding approval (8 for technique, 8 for capacity). With three exceptional gaits, powerful balance, and an outstanding temperament, Spotilas combines elite performance with rideability. Spotilas is the only Danish-graded son of the legendary Totilas—the three-time World Champion, European Champion, and World Cup winner. Ridden by Edward Gal, Totilas set three world records and became the first dressage horse to surpass 90%. As a sire, Totilas has produced international Grand Prix horses including Glock's Toto Jr. and Total US (6th at the 2020 Olympics). He ranked #1 on Horsetelex (2023) and #4 on WBFSH dressage sire rankings, with the largest number of Olympic long-listed offspring for Paris 2024. On the dam side, Spotilas represents one of the strongest Knabstrupper mare lineages, incorporating three of the four historic bloodlines. The influential Rasmus af Damgaard appears twice in the pedigree, reinforcing proven dressage genetics. Spotilas sperm quality is superb; in 2022 and 2023 he had a pregnancy rate of 90-95%. Offspring of graded mares can normally be registered with a red passport in either the Knabstrupper Ass. KNN, which is an EU-recognized association, or in AES or ZfDP. This applies both to offspring from warmblood mares and from a number of special breeds. Spotilas appears to pass on a fantastic canter and very good balance to his offspring. In addition, a strong topline, correct croup and a very good and closed hindquarters. They also tend to have a good, correct conformation right from the start, are typically very intelligent and want contact with people.
